Groundhog Day: changes and choices

Leestijd: 2 minuten

What would you do differently if you could live today all over again?

(Or yesterday in case your read this blog in the morning).

Do you know the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray?

It’s great. Go watch it. It’s about a weatherman who finds himself living the same day over and over again.

A more serious question would be:

A more serious question would be: what would you do if today was the last day of your life?

As I am writing this blog, there is not much I would change about yesterday.

Yesterday was a Sunday and it was about:

  • Preparing my garden for wintertime.
  • Getting a bunch of apples and pears from my father.
  • A lovely dinner with dear friends.
  • Cleaned up my desk.
  • Got settled into my new hometown and found myself a new GP and dentist.
  • Took a nice hot shower and curled up on my new couch to watch a movie, munching on a yummie piece of chocolate.
  • Ordered a gift for a dear friend from the local bookstore. Bookstores are having a hard time and rather than order everything online, I try to sponsor the local stores.
  • Stood staring at the moon as she was so beautiful.
  • Stood still for a moment inhaling this Swiss-village-in-wintertimes-smell. One of my neighbors must have a great fireplace as this happens every night in wintertime.
  • Had a beautiful talk with an excellent coach and wonderful woman who is fast becoming a dear friend.
  • and more.

What was your yesterday about?

If it was a workday, did you do what you had planned to do? Are you happy with the outcomes of what you did?

Groundhog day is about chances and choices.

About what we really want and what we are most afraid of. About wishing things and actually daring to go out and living the life we want to live. It’s also about being at ease with what is and not wanting to change things.

Life today is what it is because of choices you made yesterday.

Who is in the lead? Your head or your heart? We do not all get the chance to relive yesterday or today again and again. It was nice being able to conclude that my yesterday was really perfect the way it was. Read my other post on choices too.

Enjoy what is left of your today, today 🙂
